How is biblical counseling different from other kinds of counseling
We believe that God wants us to help and encourage each other. The way we help each other is by listening, understanding and caring. The way we encourage each other is by sharing the insights and principles that God has given to us in the Bible. Our Counselors have a thorough understanding of Biblical Principles and have been trained to apply them to a broad spectrum of life issues people are struggling with today. And they will help you implement a strategy that will work.
The basic beliefs of our counselors come from the traditional Christian faith. Here is a brief summary of what we believe:
- We Believe God is a God of grace, forgiveness and complete healing.
- We believe there is one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
- We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. He lived a sinless human life and voluntarily offered Himself as the perfect sacrifice for our sins by dying on the cross as our substitute. He rose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over death and prove that God accepted His sacrifice as payment for the sins of the world.
- We believe the Holy Spirit creates faith in people’s hearts and helps them to grow in their faith to be fully committed followers of Jesus.
- We believe the Bible is God’s revealed Word to all people and the sole basis of our faith. It is inspired by God, without error, and has complete authority over our lives.
- We believe God made man and woman in the spiritual image of God, to be like Him in character. They were created to be God’s close friends, but they broke that friendship by disobeying God (sin). God is the one who restores His relationship with people by grace when people receive Jesus as their Lord and Savior.
